Effect of lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus Stapf) tea in a type 2
The sample was authenticated at the herbarium unit of the Biological Science Department, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria and a voucher specimen number 1882 was deposited accordingly.The leaf sample was immediately washed and shade-dried for 2 weeks to constant weight and was ground to a fine powder.The filtrates were transferred into crucible and evaporated into dryness in water bath and weighed to constant weight.The results are expressed as mg gallic acid equivalents (mgGAE)/g dry weight of the plant tissue.The whole solutions were allowed to settle and the precipitates were collected and washed with dilute ammonium hydroxide and then filtered.Forty-two (42) male Wistar rats were obtained from the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria with initial mean bw of 211.01 ± 17.05 g.
